Name: Kathy
(Mother) & Sarah (Daughter)
From: Wakefield,
Rhode Island
Occupation: Kathy: Retired, Sarah: Stay-At-Home Mom
More About You:
Kathy: Well, I am a golfer, traveler, recently
divorced and now I'm trying to get into
art.
Sarah: I am married and a busy mom of two
toddlers: a boy and a girl.
Your inspiration:
Kathy: I have always wanted to paint but never
did. Sarah suggested we go to Artista together
and I thought it was a great idea. I also
wanted to try out a 'women only' travel
group so I could meet new friends.
Sarah: I used to paint a little bit but
things got busy after I had my kids. I
wanted to get back in touch with art again.
Get back that creative spark!
Who did you
travel with? We traveled
together.
Highlights:
Kathy: On the first day of class, we got to frame
one of our very first paintings. Seeing
my work presented like that gave me this
wonderful feeling like, 'Wow, I made a
real painting!' I had never picked up a
paint brush in my entire life, and now
here I am among women of all levels of
experience. We are all learning different
things, but are in it together.
Sarah: My highlight would be meeting all
the other women and, like my mom said,
'feeling like we are all in it together.'
On the second night, we all went to Mission
Ranch to eat dinner and get to know each
other. That was so much fun.
Would you recommend Artista to others?
Kathy: Absolutely! The fellowship of the
women is so much fun.
Sarah: Yes, most definitely. The camaraderie
and the support of the whole group is so
nice. The studio is not like a classroom
at all and Carmel is a great destination
The whole experience is cathartic...
Where do you want
to go for your next journey?
Kathy: I want to go to a dude ranch. No,
seriously!
Sarah: I would love to do something with
cooking and art or go to Tibet.
